r Azhar taught in Raffles Institution and headed its PE & CCA Department before joining PESS. He has coaching qualifications in kayaking, rugby, sailing and soccer. He coached the Singapore Schools Rugby Team from 1999-2001. A former state representative in rugby, he has represented Singapore in a number of international matches and tournaments. He is currently in the Asian Rugby Football Union (ARFU) Elite Referees Panel and is also an International Rugby Board (IRB) Referee Trainer.

His research interest is in Pedagogy in PE.
