lara Tan completed her undergraduate and Masters degrees at the University of Alberta, Canada.  At the graduate level, she was awarded the Myer Horowitz Graduate Scholarship.  In 1997, she was awarded the NTU-NIE Overseas Graduate Scholarship (Singapore) to pursue her doctorate in sport pedagogy at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (USA).  Her research interests include children's perceptions of physical education and achievement motivation in sport and PE settings.  Prior to joining NIE, Clara has taught at the secondary, junior college, and tertiary levels in Singapore.  She has also worked with children and youth in physical activity programs in the US and Canada.

 

Currently, she is the coordinator for the PESS degree programme.

Areas of expertise: Sport Pedagogy, Teaching and Teacher Education, Netball.
