r. John Wang graduated
from College of Physical Education and has taught physical education in
a secondary school for four years. He has also worked in primary schools
as an educational counsellor when he was in Ministry of Education. He
was a sport development officer in a polytechnic promoting healthy
lifestyle and in charge of leadership training programmes. He completed
his undergraduate study in Physical Education and Sports Science at
Loughborough University in the United Kingdom. For two consecutive
years, he was the top student in the course.
In 1998, Dr. John Wang
went back to Loughborough University and did his doctorate in Sport and
Exercise Psychology with Professor Stuart Biddle and Dr. Chris Spray
after awarded the Overseas Graduate Scholarship from NTU and the
Overseas Research Students Awards from Loughborough University. His
Ph.D. thesis was entitled:- Ability Beliefs, Achievement Goals, and
Intrinsic Motivation in Physical education. Professor Glyn Roberts was
his external examiner. During his PhD course, he has won the Best
Student Award (Psychology) in 1999 British Association of Sport and
Exercise Sciences Annual Conference. He was also a member of
Loughborough University Sport Psychology Research Group and was involved
in the
Nike/Youth Sport Trust Girls In Sport Partnership Project.
In addition, he was one
of the pioneers to set up the Loughborough University Sport Psychology
Support Unit in 1998 and worked with athletes from a variety of sports
including golf, tennis, swimming, basketball and badminton. He has gone
through a 3 year supervised experience as a probationary sport
psychologist under Professor Stuart Biddle and Dr. Chris Harwood and is
now a BASES accredited sport psychologist.
Currently, he is the coordinator for the in-service programme. |
