r Ng studied overseas on a Singapore Sports Council Scholarship (1986-1990) at the University of Nebraska, USA. He completed his undergraduate degree in Physical Education and Master Degree in Exercise Science, while concurrently competing for the University in the pole vault event.

Upon his return to Singapore, he pioneered modules in Applied Physiology, Biomechanics, Physical Fitness and Anatomy at the School of Health Sciences, Nanyang Polytechnic (1994-2007). He had also donned national colours for Singapore in the 80s and 90s in Asian Track and Field Meets, SEA Games and Asian Games. His crowning moment was in the 15th SEA Games 1989 in Kuala Lumpur where he won a silver medal in the pole vault event for Singapore.

Kean Mun still participates actively in Club and Masters competitions. He is accredited IAAF Level II Coach and Singapore Sports Council Senior Coach. He has been coaching student athletes to the Club, National Schools and International levels. His current area of research interest is in optimising the biomechanics of sprinting, pole vaulting and marathon running for improved performance.

His research interest is in Biomechanics.
