Applicants who are interested in applying for admission to any of NIE's teacher-training programmes with specialization in the teaching of Physical Education are required to take the PPT.

2. Registration for the PPT can only be done ONLINE and is NOT AVAILABLE on SUNDAYS. Click here to register online for PPT.
3. The PPT comprises five separate tests. These are:

Participants are expected to demonstrate good stroke technique and footwork in a singles rally.

Possession game

Participants will form groups of offensive or defensive players, in a game similar to basketball, and demonstrate their abilities to keep possession of, or to force opponents to lose possession of the ball.

Swimming

This consists of a 25 meter swim at the participant's pace using his/her preferred stroke.

5. To pass the PPT, a candidate must achieve the following:
a. Score a total of 9 points or more in the test.
b. Does not fail any station.

The fee for taking the test is S$10.70 (inclusive of GST).

Fee payment will only be collected one week before the test date. We will send an email to you when it is time to make the fee payment. The fee payment must be made before you take the PPT or else the results for the test will not be released to you. No refund for payment made will be given to candidates who registered but did not take or withdraw from the test. For those who do not make the payment, it is assumed that they have decided not to take the test after all.

You may pay for the PPT test by a cheque or cashier’s order made payable to “National Institute of Education”. Post-dated cheque is not acceptable. Please indicate your name, index number and telephone number on the back of the cheque or cashier’s order and submit it to the Student Services Centre (SSC) of NIE. The address of SSC is as follows:

Payment by cash or NETS will be accepted if made in person at the SSC.


Making Payment on the Test Date

Should you decide to make payment on the test date itself, please be advised that it can be done at the SSC between 9 am to 2.30 pm latest as you will need to be ready for the test which starts at 3.00 pm.
In the event that you arrive too late to make the payment, please proceed with the PPT first. Your payment should, however, be made at SSC immediately after you have completed the test.

Candidates are advised to ensure that the email address entered is accurate because all correpondence on PPT including the results of the test will be sent via email.

The results of the PPT will be indicated in a statement, issued by the Foundation Programmes Office (FPO), to all participants of the test. For those who pass, the result will be valid for a period of two years. Passing the PPT is a requirement for entry to Specialisation in the teaching of Physical Education but it does not necessarily mean that your application for admission is successful. Admission to NIE is also dependent on other factors including meeting the entry requirements.

10.

Failure to sit for the PPT may jeopardise your application as NIE reserves the right not to conduct the test on alternative dates for those who miss the PPT on the scheduled test date.

11. PPT will be conducted on the following dates in 2010:
