r. Quek joined the teaching profession in 1963 and has taught in primary schools, secondary schools and a junior college in Singapore. Upon completion of his BSc and MSc from the University of Oregon, USA he was appointed Vice-Principal of the Victoria Junior College. His Ph.D. is from the University of Queensland and his research interests are in the area of motor development and specifically short-term motor memory in children. He was the Dean of the School of Physical Education (1991-2000), the Principal Officer, NIE (2000-2003), and the Dean of Academic, NIE (2003-2006). Currently he is the Principal Officer in the Director’s Office of NIE.

Areas of expertise: Motor Development, Cognitive and Coping Styles of athletes and familial influences on physical activity, body composition and density.
